During dinner tonight were stopped suddenly when my 4 year old son opened up his mouth and asked the question, "um...How the sun come up?"
I just couldn't answer that one on the spot. If anyone ever looks at this page in the future, please respond and suggest how you would have answered that one. I know how to explain it, but to get it at the dinner table out of the blue was a little more than I could handle. Besides, I don't know that I could explain it to a 4 year old.

What a great question. Tell him that we really come around to the sun, but that since our feet are on the earth which is going around, it looks to us like it is the sun that is moving, but in fact it is we who are moving. Then take a ball, a small light and a small action figure and go into a dark room and demonstrate how the earth has a dark side and a light side as it rotates before the light. You can take it from there...
